Every morning I pause to offer gratitude for all the many blessings in my life. Often it’s the simplest pleasures of life that bring a smile to my heart – from the beauty of trees releasing their leaves outside my window, to the insistent morning meows of my kitties and upturned belly of my dog just waiting for a rub, to the smell of breakfast cooking by my dear husband. When I sit to teach yoga, I gaze out at all of you and offer thanks that you continue to come together week after week to explore yourself and practice yoga, to experience its power working through you – on the mat and in your lives. Gratitude is a practice unto itself and is perfectly aligned with yoga. It opens your heart and reminds you that, in the scale of life, what we often think are the big events are actually not that significant …. but the daily moments that bring a smile to your heart can fill an entire life with wonder.
What are you grateful for today? Set an intention to enter the holiday season with gratitude in your heart. Practice being thankful for all the small moments of your life.
